Catch up.

Thumbnails for the NYPL brochure student's project

As I told you before I started studying graphic design at Shillington College more than a month ago. And it's taking a lot of time and work, that's why I have been away from the blog for a while. I had to move out too, so I had to wait until I had internet back.
But I'm back now and I have a lot to share with you guys. I am going to try and post everyday from now on so I can share my work but also my inspirations.
A word about Shillington : I started Shillington a bit more than a month ago and I'm enjoying it so much ! It takes a lot of time and work but on the other hand I am doing what I am passionate about so tiredness does not count. I have learnt so much in such a short time. I did a lot of work at school that I will share with you once my portfolio will be ready. One of my favorite's project so far is the one when we had to design a music theme template for Spotify, choosing our favorite kind of music. With this project I have been able to use my own illustrations and combine them to my work on screen. The result is pretty cool and I had so much fun doing it. You will see it when my portfolio will be available online soon.

Afternoon Tea.

Afternoon Tea, by Elektrikopium

Hello ! //

Hello ! I have been a bit lazy with the blog and my creations lately. I travelled a bit these last two weeks. After a lovely weekend in Byron Bay with my friends, where I met up with two french friends, I was in Woolgoolga the following weekend. Woolgoolga is situated twenty minutes away from Coffs Harbour, which is five hours south of Brisbane. A good opportunity to take some photos and videos. The weather is perfect at the moment, it is not too hot, not too cold at night.

I'm looking forward to going to the Finders Keepers markets in Brisbane on the 7th and 8th of July at the Old Museum Building. These markets bring together new contemporary independent artists and designers. A good way to discover new trends and get inspiration. With the markets comes live music and a garden bar + cafe. With over 65 stalls, I better start saving some money now haha !
If you want to have a look at the event page on Facebook it's here. If you want to have a look at the photo album of the markets in Melbourne it's there. You can also go and have a look at the Finders Keepers website.

When I was in Byron Bay the other weekend, I went to Nimbin, one hour away from Byron. Nimbin is known for being a hippie village. I went there already last June when I travelled for a month along the East Coast, and didn't really like the atmosphere. But I suppose that it is a place that all tourists want to see. I found this lovely pair of earrings in a little boutique, there were a thousand of them, all so colorful. I got this pair and then realized that the leaves were maybe the ones you roll in a cigarette to make you laugh, oh well, i like them !

Finally you may have noticed that I changed the blog deco. I wanted something sober. I hope you like it !
See you soon, with new creations I hope !

I'm back ! I've been a bit quiet these last days, but I had a lot to do, but now I'm back ! I spent a lovely weekend in Noosa Heads, North of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast, and I think I ate the best oysters of my life. I started using gouache, which someone kindly bought me last week! I'm a beginner, and not an expert in arts, so I'm trying a bit of everything at the moment. It is hard to start, I was so excited to finally get these little precious paint tubes in my hands that once I was in front of the paper I was wondering what to do with it. So for now I'm just working on the colors. The set I have is a set of primary colors, so it is perfect to practice mixing the paints. The result of my first try is not great but I still wanted to share it. I think I should be less scared of wasting the paper (which is very expensive if you want good quality) and start painting even if what I do looks a bit crap.

Je l'ai appelé "The sky went mental".//

Other than the gouache, I just found a drawing I made few weeks ago when I was bored on a rainy afternoon. It's called "The sky went mental".

And finally, I made a little compilation of the photos I took last weekend in Noosa Heads and Bribie Island.

Passez un bon weekend !
Have a good weekend !

Away

Hey !

Hey ! Long time since I posted on the blog, I've been away for a long weekend and I travelled a bit. I didn't have time to create and to post on the blog, but I brought a lot of new photos back and new tools to work with. For now I let you wait with a video of Crabby Crab in Bribie Island.

Music : Four Tet - She just likes to fight.

This is a video I recorded with my iphone on Bribie Island. Sorry about the bad quality of the video (which has been recorded in portrait mode...) and the video compression is a bit rubbish on blogger.

Go and like their page and share it with your friends ! :)

My Etsy order has finally arrived, and as you can see on the photo, I have a lot to do with this twine. I ordered them from the Etsy shop Moi e Ti, where you can find a lot of lovely things for cheap.

The winter jewelry collection is just adorable, the necklaces, in wood or resin, are so original and can give any basic outfit a great look. The items are a bit expensive, but if you like it, don't count the cost (if only haha).
Lately I got the resin artichoke necklace for myself and it is lovely !

Spring in Autumn.

On The Road, Jack Kerouac

First of all, I decided to integrate the english translation of the post just after each french paragraph, I thought it would be easier for you to read. Do you find it better ? Or did you prefer it as it was before ?

I hope you all had a good easter. Since I travel a bit I don't really celebrate Easter anymore and I must say that I miss the all chocolate eggs hunting game (buying your own chocolate eggs at the supermarket is not as fun). But the weather was lovely all weekend and it was good ! It also feels good to see that it is getting cooler. It still a bit weird that it is a million degrees during the day but a bit chilly as soon as the sun goes down. Aaah autumn you are finally here. Now I just want tree leaves to be orange and brown and it'll be perfect. Days are shorter as well, the sun goes down at 5pm.

A few years ago I started reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac in French and I never had a chance to finish it because of the amount of books I had to read for uni. Last summer I tried to start reading it again but I was a bit annoyed by the fact that I was reading the french translation of it because I've been used to read in english now. The book is so much nicer in its original language. So in the meantime the original version of the book came out "the original scroll" which is the first draft that Kerouac wrote, so with the characters' real names and it is the uncensored version as well. I decided to buy the first version that was published (so the censored version) because I wanted to be part, in a way, of the first readers of the book. Then I would buy the original version and compare them. I'm not even halfway through the book yet that I already love it. If you have never heard of this book and to give a brief description it is the story of guy in 1947 who wants to travel to western america. He is describing his journey. I will write more about it when I'll finish it.

I said that I would post the photos of the cards I made a little while ago, and here they are ! For the 'spring' one, I got inspired by an artist whose name is Bianca Hewson who I discovered on the blog FellowFellow. The second card is reminding me of my childhood, when we found dandelions (I think we used to call them 'angels' as kids) we used to blow them out and make a wish. The deal was that if it was not flying in the air and fell down the ground, your wish would never be realized (we don't really have any hope as kid haha). With the third card, which is not perfect at all (I'm not sure if you could ever ride that bike with such square wheels), I wanted to transcribe a kind of french spirit with the 'bonjour' stamp found in Typo (for once that I found something written in french and not misspelled, like 'bon nuit' for example). I didn't have much free time lately, I started doing more hours at work. But as soon as I'll have a bit of spare time I will work on some new models. I hope you like them, I want to know what you think about them :)

Snapshots.

Main Beach, Gold Coast.
Barbara Wiggins Vintage Crackle Satchel

My Sketchbook
MMMG Calendar

C'est long !

English Version

In approximatively sixty days I'll be starting this graphic design course and I am excited ! For now I carry on drawing my ideas and creating cards (I will post photos of the last cards I made in the next post). I can't wait to receive an order I made on Etsy on the 10 of March and that hasn't arrived yet. I noticed that getting things delivered in Australia can take a really long time. It's long so long ! I ordered a set of 12 colored twine, small pegs, and some stickers. The twine is so lovely, and you can use it for everything. I will post photos of this beauty when I'll finally get it.
The photos above :
The first one was taken in Main Beach on the Gold Coast, Australia. I spent this afternoon there yesterday, and it feels good. Since I arrived in Australia in November 2011 I haven't been to the beach yet, and I was missing the sea/ocean. This beach is situated just near to Surfers Paradise, but there are less tourists.
The second photo is a snapshot I took of my sketchbook with sketches of the last cards I made. I love this sketchbook because it is filled with ideas, used or unused yet. Every time I have an idea I grab it and draw in it, and then I use the ideas. I bought it on sale at Eckersley's without realy knowing what I would do with it and now it became one of my best friends.
The third photo is a photo I took from the NoteMaker's website, which is a website that sales stationary stuff and home wares and it is lovely. The items sold are very elegant and I everytime I have a look at the website I want to buy everything. The Satchel is designed by Barbara Wiggins, a london brand, and it is absolutely adorable. I love the crackle leather, it gives the bag a really good vintage look. The bag is handmade. I've always wanted to have a satchel, and I think that if i would buy one it would be one like that. I fell in love with that calendar on the fourth photo, it is so original.

I just found a cool website to get the weather forecast of your city in a fun way. It is called Hello Weather. It reminds me when I was a kid and we had to do the weather forecast every day in class with little signs !
